The canal is the tourist entrance to the Twin Ports harbor, and passages here are labeled inbound and outbound rather than upbound and downbound, because a boat crossing this line is entering or leaving a harbor rather than climbing the system. 1,383 crossings by 70 vessels over two years, a couple a day across the months that have traffic and none at all in February. Everything that crosses passes under the Aerial Lift Bridge, with a salute both ways.
